          Symposium to Illuminate Legal Issues Posed by 3D Printing Technology

          How will regulatory bodies address printable organs, medical devices, guns, and aircraft? What are the implications for patent and copyright law?

          "The Legal Dimension of 3d Printing," a symposium presented by the Hastings Law Journal, is set to address these questions and more on Friday, February 21, 8am to 5pm, at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

          The symposium will open with a welcome by UC Hastings Provost & Academic Dean Elizabeth Hillman, followed by a presentation on the “State of the Technology” by UC Hastings’ Charles Belle, Executive Director of the Institute for Innovation Law, and Research Director for the Privacy and Technology Project.

          Two panels will address “Regulating 3d Printing: How to Impose Limits on the Theoretically Limitless” and “Keeping Guns Off the Streets by Keeping Them Out of Printers,” plus a keynote address by Mark Lemley, director of the Stanford University program in Law, Science & Technology.
