Adjunct Professor Mary McLain is a full-time mediator based out of Mill Valley. Professor McLain received her LL.M. in Dispute Resolution with an emphasis on Mediation from the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law. Her practice draws on 25 years of experience in civil litigation and dispute resolution. Professor McLain has successfully mediated hundreds of cases in a wide-range of areas including commercial/business, employment, real estate, personal injury, insurance, probate, and partnerships. She has also served as an arbitrator, discovery referee, and neutral evaluator in numerous matters. In addition to teaching the Mediation Clinic at Hastings, she is a co-adjunct Professor of Mediation at Boalt Law School, UC Berkeley.
Professor McLain is past president of the Marin County Bar Association; the Marin County Women Lawyers and current President of CorStone Center. Other board affiliations include: Marin Abused Women Services, Friends of the Redwoods and the Mill Valley Tennis Club.
Professor McLain and her husband reside in Mill Valley where they raised four children. Born and raised in Montana, her interests are in social issues, environment, skiing, travel and tennis.
