San Francisco is one of the most vibrant, cosmopolitan, and innovative cities in the United States.
UC Hastings is strategically located in the heart of San Francisco. Local, state, and federal courts, as well as San Francisco City Hall and administrative centers, such as the Department of Public Health, are located within five blocks of the UC Hastings campus. This proximity gives UC Hastings students the opportunity to experience the law where it is practiced and provides a level of relevancy that is unparalleled in most law schools.
With San Francisco’s approximately 150 theaters, more than 60 museums, and some 3,500 restaurants, it is no wonder the city is one of the world’s best-loved destinations. UC Hastings is only a short walk from the San Francisco City Hall, the Asian Art Museum, the Civic Center Auditorium, the San Francisco Opera, and Davies Symphony Hall. Consistently earning top honors as one of the most beautiful, eco-friendly, and walkable cities in the world, San Francisco was also named by Forbes as the country’s best place to live for singles.
Although famous for its fog, San Francisco enjoys plenty of sunshine, mild winters, and cool summers. Through the city’s extensive public transportation system, students can easily access a variety of San Francisco’s most popular tourist attractions, such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Academy of Sciences, Union Square, the Embarcadero, Alcatraz, and Fisherman’s Wharf.
For those wanting to get outdoors, there are numerous parks and beaches within close proximity to UC Hastings. Golden Gate Park, Crissy Field, and Ocean Beach are only a short ride away. On weekends students have the luxury of being able to take day trips to Sonoma, Napa, Monterey, and Lake Tahoe.
UC Hastings students have the city of San Francisco right at their fingertips. With a renowned LL.M. degree program and all the city’s amenities, UC Hastings can provide its students with a unique and powerful learning experience.

UC Hastings is one of a limited number of urban law schools with housing devoted exclusively to its students. To download a on-campus housing application form online, please contact UC Hastings’ Housing Department. We recommend that you apply for housing early.
The housing department also offers resources to assist students in finding off-campus housing. Many students do live off-campus as UC Hastings is easily accessible by public transportation and is approximately a three-minute walk from the Civic Center, a major stop for both MUNI (within San Francisco) and BART (regional, including East Bay) transit systems.
