The Office of Career & Professional Development hosts a number of Career Days, which bring a broad range of employers to campus to meet with students. Some Career Days involve formal interviews, while others allow students to informally network with attorneys and recruiters and to gather information about different practice areas.
Meet the Employers is held every spring. This annual event allows our students to meet and talk with attorneys and recruiters from many of the employers who will participate in our Fall On-Campus Interview (OCI) program. Typically, about 60 employers participate (including law firms, public interest organizations, government agencies, and in-house counsel), and over 200 students attend the event. This is an excellent opportunity to make an impression on employers before Fall OCI.
An annual event in late January hosted by the Career Office, the UC Hastings Intellectual Property student organizations, and the UC Hastings Science & Technology Law Journal. The program has two components: a Career Panel moderated by Kate Patterson, a local IP recruiter, showcasing different areas of intellectual property practice (intellectual property litigation, patent prosecution, intellectual property transactional work); and the Career Fair, an informal table-talk and reception with many different IP employers. This event is well attended by over 100 students and 20 to 30 employers each year. Participation in the Fair is free to students and employers.
This year's IP Fair will be held on January 30, 2013. Please contact the Office of Career & Professional Development at (415) 565-4619 or email for more information.
One of the largest recruiting programs in the country for public interest and public sector employers; the Consortium of Northern California Law Schools and the Public Interest Clearinghouse sponsor this spring event. Last year over 100 organizations and several hundred students participated. The 29th annual Public Interest/Public Sector day will be held on the UC Hastings campus on February 2, 2013. The event features formal interviews and an informal table talk.
