A Roundup of Scholarship by Professor Rick Marcus

Professor Rick Marcus’s latest article, “Shoes That Did Not Drop,” appeared in volume 46 U. Mich. J. Law Ref. 637 (2013).

Professor Marcus has given a number of lectures and presentations over the past several months. He was a featured panelist (along with Hon. John Koeltl (S.D.N.Y.) and Elizabeth Cabraser), in a panel entitled "The Latest on Amendments to the Federal Civil Rules," at the ABA Section of Litigation Conference for Litigators, Chicago, IL, April 25, 2013.

On April 11-12, 2013, Professor Marcus presented proposed amendments to Fed. R. Civ. P. 37(e) during the Spring meeting of the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules in Norman, OK. The amendments were unanimously approved for submission to the Standing Committee at its June meeting.

April 16, 2013: the Supreme Court adopted amendments to Fed. R. Civ. P. 45 (the subpoena rule) and conforming amendments to Rule 37 on which Marcus was the primary drafter and forwarded them to Congress pursuant to the Rules Enabling Act.

April 27, 2013: Professor Marcus was one of two Americans attending as invited guests at the conference "Die Zunkunft des Zivilprozesses" in honor of Prof. Rolf Sturner (Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat), Freiburg, Germany. The event included a presentation of the two-volume collection of essays, one of which was written by Marcus.
