The UC Hastings Alternative Dispute Resolution Team repeats as champions of the Jeffry S. Abrams National Mediation Competition at the University of Houston Law Center.

This year's performance was a UC Hastings sweep of the finals, as 2L Kyle Gertridge finished in First Place and 1L Alix Pisani finished in Second Place after a very close championship round. 3L Kit Jones also finished in 9th place to round out three UC Hastings mediators finishing in the top 10 in this National Competition.

The strong performance for the UC Hastings ADR team comes on the heels of 3L Eddy Mata being champion of this competition last year. The victory for the ADR team also marks the third time in three competitions this semester that UC Hastings has finished in first or second place and had multiple teams finish in the top ten.

"Students at UC Hastings can participate in not only the Team but also approximately 20 experiential Negotiation and ADR classes," says Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution Director and Clinical Professor of Law Sheila Purcell, "as well as clinics and externships through our Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution. Those who make the Team are fortunate to work with volunteer practitioner judges and coaches in addition to being guided by the engaged and highly experienced Head Coach Clint Waasted. We are once again delighted at the continued excellence of the Team both in terms of their efforts and their steady accomplishments."
