CA State Senator Kevin DeLeon gives shoutout to Nickens on Twitter for policy paper on SB 535.

This summer, 2L Rodney Nickens worked as a legal associate at the Greenlining Institute, a multi-ethnic advocacy, research, leadership development, and public policy organization that aims to empower communities of color.

Nickens wrote a policy brief about California's landmark global warming law, SB 535, which requires cap and trade investments to be made in low-income disadvantaged communities burdened by pollution.

Thrilled to be working on issues of environmental justice, Nickens was even more excited when the author of the bill, State Senator Kevin DeLeon, congratulated Rodney on his work at the Greenlining Institute’s summer program graduation, and then tweeted this picture to his Twitter followers.
