Jolene is excited about her new role as General Counsel with Delicato Family Vineyards, a third generation family-owned and operated winery with a robust private label and bulk business and a fast-growing branded business. Prior to joining the Delicato team, Jolene provided business-savvy counsel to the world’s largest winery, E. & J. Gallo Winery, and other clients, for more than ten years. Jolene has a “dirt-to-dinner table” practice involving domestic and cross-border commercial transactions, M&A, employment, sales and marketing counseling, corporate governance, and general corporate representation. Prior to joining Gallo, Jolene practiced with Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto, representing a variety of clients in the technology and related sectors. She has also practiced overseas in Seoul, Korea with Kim & Chang as a Foreign Legal Consultant, where she primarily represented American and European clients in general business matters and acquisitions of financially distressed companies. She has taught Moot Court and Legal Writing and Research at UC Hastings College of the Law, has coached the Hastings Jessup International Moot Court Team to the International Rounds, and has served as a judge for moot court classes and competitions.
Jolene co-chaired the Committee on Corporate Counsel of the ABA Section of Business Law from 2003 – 2007, was a member of the Section’s Publications Board through 2009, a member of Council through 2012, and is an American Bar Foundation Fellow. She is also a former member of the Ralph M. Brown Inns of Court. She has participated in or moderated a number of panels regarding in-house legal practice, relations between in-house and outside counsel, and other aspects of the practice of law. She is currently a member of the ABA Task Force on the Future of Legal Education.
Jolene holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law. A former Editor-In-Chief of the Hastings Communications and Entertainment Law Journal, she has authored "The Case of the Zanja Madre," Public Arts Newsletter, 1997, and has co-authored "Structuring Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions in Korea," Asia Law and Practice, 1999. She is a Co-Editor of the In-House Counsel’s Essential Toolkit, a 7 volume set of annotated forms, policies, and advice for in-house counsel. She is a member of the Business Law Section of the ABA and of the Orange County Bar Association and is a member of the California Bar. In addition, she currently serves on the Board of Governors for Hastings.
Jolene resides in Napa, California with her husband/fellow lawyer, John, and their two children, Eliza and J.P. (and hopefully a puppy by Christmas!)
