The IT Department receives a special budget annually for replacing outdated or poorly performing computer equipment for faculty and staff. Our decisions on what to replace are based on age of the equipment that is being replaced, special needs, special equipment problems, etc. The intention is to provide all faculty and staff with machines fit for their type of work that are capable of running our current baseline software packages and the latest Microsoft Office application.
Please send your requests to: email@example.com with some background information, e.g. the specific need, age of the computer, how you use it, etc. The new computer can be a desktop or a laptop, depending on your needs. IT will choose the desktop/monitor package and provide you with some suitable options, but you can also choose most business class laptops from a major vendor and we can source it for you. The limit IT will fund this year is $1,700 in total, anything additional must come from other sources of funds.
All UC Hastings computer equipment needs to be discarded via the IT Department. If you have outdated or surplus computer equipment that you would like to have discarded, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The IT Department will make sure that all stored data is completely erased before discard. It's very important that no data be accessible on any discarded item.
