Employers are required to make a variety of types of information available to their employees. This is typically done by posters hanging in a staff lounge or equivalent common room in a workplace. Since Lawyers for America has no common physical location, this page will serve as the "employee lounge" -- and below is all the information required to be made available to employees. (Your work sites will likely have all of this information posted in an accessible location. Some details, such as the name of their workers' compensation carrier, will of course not be applicable to you.)
A comprehensive list of information that employers need to make available is here: http://www.dir.ca.gov/wpnodb.html. For most types of required information you will find links there to the actual posters. Below is some additional information to make that information easier to find -- or to supplement it with information specific to LFA.
IWC wage orders: law firms are covered by Wage Order #4
Labor Code Section 2810.5 Notice (CA "Wage Theft Prevention Act")
The new paid sick leave law is described here: http://www.dir.ca.gov/DLSE/Publications/Paid_Sick_Days_Poster_Template_%2811_2014%29.pdf
Payday notice: LFA fellows are paid once every two weeks. New fellows will receive a two-week advance paycheck on or after August 1, and two later paychecks will each be reduced by one week to adjust for this advance (notice will be provided). The dates for payment will be determined by the start dates of the new class of fellows. More information will be available at the Gusto payroll site.
Injuries caused by work/workers' compensation: LFA carries workers' compensation insurance. If you suffer a workplace injury the first priority is to attend to your medical condition, and then notify Lawyers for America (Marsha Cohen, Executive Director, email@example.com; 415.565.4676). LFA's workers' compensation insurance carrier is The Hartford, Policy #76WEGZQ8069.
