Adjunct Professor Julia Mezhinsky Jayne is an attorney at the law firm of Jayne Law Group, P.C. (http://www.bayarea-criminaldefense.com) and has tried many state and federal cases. She has been teaching Trial Advocacy at Hastings since 2003. Professor Jayne’s practice focuses exclusively on state and federal criminal defense. Her representative cases ranges from white collar and financial crime prosecutions to the defense of general crimes such as drug conspiracies, weapons possession, and various misdemeanors. Prior to opening her own practice in 2003, Professor Jayne worked at Sideman & Bancroft and was an Assistant District Attorney in the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office, where she served in the misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony trial teams. Ms. Jayne is also a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel ("CJA Panel") for the Northern District of California, is a member of the California State Bar Criminal Law Executive Committee, and is a member of various other criminal justice organizations. She is also fluent in Russian.
Professor Jayne graduated from U.C. Hastings in 1999. She received her undergraduate degree from U.C.L.A., with a B.A. in Communication Studies.
