LL.M. Students form close knit bonds with their peers and professors

Thank you for your interest in our LL.M. program in U.S. Legal Studies. To apply you must have received (or expect to receive prior to enrollment at UC Hastings) a degree that would qualify you for the practice of law from a recognized law school outside of the United States.

Applying through LSAC**

UC Hastings requires that all applicants submit their application online through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) website and use their LL.M. CAS Document Assembly service. We strongly recommend that students use LSAC ‘s CAS LL.M. International Transcript Authentication and Evaluation Service. If students elect not to use LSAC’s credential service, they must choose another credential service listed on www.naces.org. For a list of required components please visit our Application Checklist.

Application Deadline

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The priority deadline for admissions, financial aid and scholarships is March 1st.

Check Application Status

Once you have submitted your online application, you will receive an e-mail from the Graduate Admissions Coordinator with your specific username and initial password. You will then be able to check your Application Status using the Online Application Tracker.

TOEFL or IELTS Test

If English is not your native language, you must submit your official score to LSAC. If you have successfully completed and received a post-secondary degree from an accredited institution where English is the primary language of instruction, you may be eligible for a TOEFL waiver. You will attach a word document to your LSAC application explaining why you are eligible for a TOEFL waiver.

Please visit www.toefl.com for more information on the test and exam dates. Generally, our TOEFL score minimum requirement for admission is 600 (PBT), 250 (CBT), or 90 (iBT), and the IELTS score minimum requirement is 7. In extremely rare cases, if you are unable to take the TOEFL, we may consider other evidence of a high degree of English fluency.
