UC Hastings welcomes interest from students attending other ABA/AALS accredited law schools who are interested in transferring. Each year, space is reserved in our second year class so transfer students can take full advantage of the ample academic opportunities at UC Hastings. They can pursue one of Hastings' nine concentrations, write on journals, participate in clinics, and serve as research assistants for Hastings professors. Professionally, transfer students have two full years at UC Hastings to work with our dedicated career development team and tap into our loyal, 21,000-member alumni network.
A transfer applicant must have completed or be in the process of completing at least 24 units (credits) to be considered for transfer, and may transfer a maximum of 31 1L units. In order to be awarded a UC Hastings JD, a student must successfully complete a minimum of 52 units while enrolled at UC Hastings as a full-time student for no fewer than four semesters. Transfer applicants may apply for the fall only. The application deadline is July 1.
