The Office of Career & Professional Development hosts a number of Career Days, which allow employers to meet with students on campus and mingle in a professional atmosphere.
This annual event Spring event allows attorneys and recruiters to meet and talk with students who will participate in our Fall On-Campus Interview (OCI) program. Typically, about 200 students attend the event. This is an excellent opportunity to make an impression on students before they begin researching and bidding on Fall OCI employers during the summer.
The 2013 Meet the Employers event will be held on April 3. RSVP here. Please visit the On-Campus Interviews tab to the left for more information about OCI.
The Intellectual Property and Technology Career Fair is an annual event in late January hosted by the UC Hastings' Office of Career & Professional Development and several Hastings Intellectual Property and technology law organizations. The program has two components: a Career Panel moderated by Kate Patterson, a local IP recruiter, showcasing different intellectual property and technology law practices (intellectual property litigation, patent prosecution, and technology transactions); and the Career Fair, an informal table-talk and reception with many different IP and technology law employers. This event is well attended by over 100 students and about 30 employers each year. Participation is free to students and employers.
In addition, each year three employers have the opportunity to send an attorney to the panel and sponsor the event, underwriting the cost of the reception. The sponsors receive acknowledgement in all the publicity surrounding the event. The upcoming 2014 IP/Tech Law Fair is graciously sponsored by Perkins Coie, K&L Gates, and Fish & Richardson.
This event is a wonderful and cost-free opportunity to meet students interested in intellectual property and technology-related practices, and to help students learn about your organization and practice. You do not need to be hiring to participate – this is a career focused meet-and-greet. We hope you will be able to participate in the upcoming Fair by sending attorneys to represent your office. If your firm or department would like to attend, please contact Eliza Leoni, Recruiting Coordinator, at 415-703-8261.2014 IP/Tech Career Fair

One of the largest recruiting programs in the country for public interest and public sector employers; the Consortium of Northern California Law Schools and the Public Interest Clearinghouse sponsor this spring event. Last year over 100 organizations and several hundred students participated. The event features formal interviews and an informal table talk.

JD Careers (formerly called Creative Career Options with a JD) is an annual event in the fall. This fun, informal table talk allows students to circulate and have casual conversations with alumni who have pursued all sorts of careers outside of “big law”-- in finance, in academia, in real estate, forensic investigations, as entrepreneurs, and more. This well-attended event usually has forty UC Hastings alums participate and over one hundred students attend.
