Fairuz began her legal career advocating for indigent clients. As a litigator she has practiced Family Law and Juvenile Dependency law. She received her B.A. in Political Science from U.C. Santa Cruz and her J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. Prior to becoming a member of the bar in 2006, she worked at the Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good where she worked on public policy issues involving Dispute Resolution and Mediation in California. She is committed to diversity issues in the legal field and serves on the boards of a number of minority bar associations. In this capacity she has helped to create, staff and volunteer at legal clinics as well as develop seminars on career advancement. Her career services portfolio includes the LL.M. students, judicial clerkships, and public interest fellowships.

Darell acts as the bridge between employers and students/alums; please feel free to contact him for information about posting a position, the Early Interview Program, and other recruiting opportunities. Darell holds a Bachelor of Science from San Francisco State University. During his time at San Francisco State, he worked for the Student Outreach Services office as a campus tour guide and has then explored his affinity for student outreach and advising. Shortly after, he worked for a local nonprofit that provides college access services to high school students from low-income communities. Now at UC Hastings, Darell is excited to be involved in helping UC Hastings students and alumni be key players in the law profession.
Associate Director for Graduate Class Advising

Gabriel primarily focuses on supporting each year’s graduating class. He began his legal career at York, Hanawalt, and Brock, before opening his own practice in 2006, focusing on litigation and more recently adding ADR services. A panel mediator for the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Office of Citizen Complaints, Gabriel also serves as a panel arbitrator for SF Human Services. While at UC Hastings, Gabriel completed the Group Justice Clinic, working with female prisoners. He also worked for the SF Public Defender's Office, the Drug Policy Alliance's Office of Legal Affairs, and has been a volunteer attorney on the AIDS Legal Referral Panel for over 10 years. Gabriel received his B.A. from the USC Film School, his M.A. from NYU, and his JD from UC Hastings. He studied Irish Film at Trinity College in Dublin, and painting in Madrid's Prado Museum. Before attending law school, Gabriel worked for MTV in New York. In addition to his legal practice, Gabriel is an active playwright, filmmaker, and basketball fanatic.
Director of the Alumni Mentor Program

Louise directs the UC Hastings Alumni Mentor Program which connects students to alumni mentors, and she also coaches students and alumni on job search and career development strategies and issues. A UC Hastings alum, she has over 15 years of law practice experience -- her practice included general commercial litigation, insurance recovery litigation, securities litigation, and immigration law. She also has over 12 years of experience counseling and coaching law students and lawyers on professional development issues, including seven years as a career counselor at UC Hastings. Louise has worked at small firms, government agencies, federal courts, AmLaw 100 firms and Berkeley Law. She was an office Managing Partner of an AmLaw 100 firm, is a Certified Mediator, a Certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) professional, has facilitated small law firm partner retreats, and has developed and administered programs on U.S. law for foreign-trained attorneys and workshops on management and leadership skills. A New York native, she went to Swarthmore College, later moved from NYC to California for law school, and has lived in the Bay Area for decades.

Amy both advises LLM students on career opportunities and US bar admissions requirements, and cultivates and strengthens relationships with employers on behalf of UC Hastings’ students and alumni. After her graduation from UC Hastings in 2001, Amy was a partner in a small firm in Oakland with a diverse civil litigation practice. While at UC Hastings, Amy was a Senior Symposium Editor and note contributor for the Hastings Law Journal as well as a board member of Clara Foltz Feminist Association; she also participated in many other scholarly and fun activities on campus. She received her B.A. in Journalism from University of Oregon and is a very energetic and vocal Ducks fan. Additionally, Amy is the chair of the development board for an Oakland non-profit, Center for Elders’ Independence, which is committed to helping local seniors live independently and with dignity by providing comprehensive health care services.

Jessica is responsible for cultivating relationships with current and prospective employers on behalf of UC Hastings’ students and alumni. Prior to joining UC Hastings, Jessica was an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in San Francisco focusing on complex commercial litigation and health and privacy law. Jessica was also a Public Interest Fellow with the Justice & Diversity Center (f/k/a Volunteer Legal Services Program) of the Bar Association of San Francisco where she advised nonprofit organizations of general business law issues and conducted outreach with pro bono programs at various Bay Area law firms. As a Cambodian-American and first generation professional, Jessica is committed to diversity initiatives and is an active member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Jessica received her B.A. degrees in Sociology and Political Science from U.C. Berkeley and her J.D. from Villanova Law School. Jessica is a member of the California and Pennsylvania state bars.

Annabrooke counsels students and alumni, gives workshops and plans career programs. Originally from the East Coast, she received her B.A. degrees in English and Latin American Studies from Colgate University, then moved to San Francisco and earned her J.D. here at UC Hastings (‘00). Annabrooke provided direct representation to diverse clients in San Francisco non-profits for ten years before joining the career office.

Stephanie provides support for various activities and events that the Career office actively engages in throughout the year. A native of California, she received her B.S. in Managerial Economics with minors in English and Writing from the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining the UC Hastings community, Stephanie worked in student academic advising after completing several short-term appointments in private firms. Her unwavering ties to higher education has anchored her in a career heavily involved in university administration.
Assistant Dean for the Office of Career & Professional Development

Sari leads the Career Office staff in the development and implementation of training and recruitment programs, manages the department’s budget, and trains and counsels students. Sari began her UC Hastings tenure as the Alumni Mentor Coordinator (1996-98) and then as the Associate Director for Career Development (1998-00). As part of her work in coaching and counseling students and alumni, she is certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and consults with her clients on the intersection of personality and career happiness, as well as professional development. She is also a graduate of the Co-Active Coach Training Program offered by the Coaches Training Institute. She has additional teaching and counseling experience from the Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to UC Hastings, she was a telecommunications associate in a Washington D.C. law firm. A California native, she holds both her J.D. and her B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University.
