          On Campus: Judge Jorge Subero Isa

          Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Dominican Republic gives guest lecture on Comparative Law

          UC Hastings was proud to welcome Judge Jorge Subero Isa to campus for an informal visit on September 10, 2013. 

          Judge Jorge Subero Isa is the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Dominican Republic (1997-2011).

          "During his tenure on the court," says Richard A. Boswell, Professor of Law & Associate Dean for Global Programs, "Judge Isa was active on issues involving the independence of the judiciary, Criminal Procedure and the rights of criminal defendants, as well as the rights of children."

          While on campus, Judge Isa met with faculty and provided a guest lecture in Professor Ugo Mattei & Dorit Reiss' Comparative Law Class.

          "It is important to give up the little bit of me, which is prevalent in Lain Americans," said Judge Isa, "to be able to cooperate with others."
