          Christine Helwick '73

          Most recently general counsel and secretary for the California State University (CSU) system and former managing university counsel for the University of California (UC) system, Christine Helwick ’73 has joined Hirschfeld Kraemer LLP as of counsel and a member of its Higher Education Law Practice.

          Wendy Tucker '85

          Wendy Tucker ’85 was recognized as a "Woman of Achievement" by California Women Lawyers, a bar association dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in the profession of law and society. Tucker, along with other notable women, were honored during the association's 39th Annual Dinner and Silent Auction at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jos on October 10, 2013.

          Tucker is co-chair of the UCLA Neurosurgery Patient and Family Advisory Council, serves on the UCLA Brain Injury Research Center Advisory Council and the Board of Advisors for the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery, where she advocates on behalf of traumatic brain injury survivors and their families. She was also firmwide chair of Sedgwick’s Pro Bono Committee (2005-2012) and is currently the Pro Bono partner for the Los Angeles office.

          John M. Andersen '92

          John M. Andersen ‘92, a certified specialist in estate planning, probate and trust law, has joined Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP as a partner.
          Andersen belongs to the Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Section of the Ventura County Bar Association, is active with the Conejo Valley Estate Planning Council and Ventura County Community Foundation and serves on the Planned Giving Advisory Council at CSU Channel Islands.

          Andrew Herman '96

          Andrew Herman ’96 has joined Miller & Chevalier as Counsel. Herman comes to the firm from the esteemed Brand Law Group, where he was involved in a diverse array of civil and criminal federal matters, with a focus on litigating federal campaign and election law issues, and handling congressional investigations and ethics inquiries. In 2005, he represented Major League Baseball (MLB) before the House Government Reform Committee during inquiries into steroid use by baseball players. Herman co-authored extensive correspondence with the Committee, including submissions on behalf of Commissioner Bud Selig, and was co-counsel for MLB officials during the televised hearing.

          John M. Climaco '00

          PDI has appointed molecular diagnostics industry veteran John M. Climaco ‘00 to its board of directors.

          Climaco co-founded Axial Biotech, Inc., a venture-backed molecular diagnostics company specializing in spine disorders, in 2003, and served as the president, chief executive officer and board member until 2012. He currently serves as a director on the boards of DigiRad Corporation and Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. Previously, he practiced corporate and tax law for six years with Fabian & Clendenin in Salt Lake City.

          "I'm honored to join PDI's board at such a pivotal time in the company's evolution," said Climaco. "I look forward to bringing my industry experience and operational perspective to help maximize the unique opportunities that PDI has both envisioned and begun to execute."

          Jonathan T. Runyan ’06 

          Jonathan T. Runyan ’06 was made a partner at Goodwin Procter. He is the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of its Technology Companies Group, where he focuses on the representation of emerging growth companies and venture capital firms, in San Francisco.
